The Camino de Santiago de Compostela is one of the worlds most famous and challenging long distance treks.

The walk was something that Matthew Plummer had been thinking about doing in the last few years, finally this summer he has found the time to take up the challenge. His route will be 1,000KM, starting on 31 May from Lourdres and finishing in the middle of July.

He has chosen to raise money for the Campaign to Protect Rural England and Motability. CPRE's work is very close to his heart - he grew up in the High Weald, a wonderful part of the English countryside that straddles the Kent and Sussex border with rolling hills, old woodland, lots of deer and a few wild boar. He doesn't want the country to be an endless sprawl of suburbs, and has written articles about this.

Motability is a charity that helped his cousin Richard buy a specially adapted Ford Transit van - he has muscular dystrophy. The van has been a massive part of Richard's life, both in visiting his family in Tunbridge Wells and Sussex, but also in going on holiday down to Cornwall and enjoying the surrounding countryside.

Matthew works as photo-journalist and will be taking photographs along the route using his favourite film Kodak TriX 400.
