How you can help

At the Campaign to Protect Rural England, we’ve been campaigning to protect the English countryside for more than 90 years. We’ve had some great successes over the years, such as:

  • The Government pledged 90% of suitable brownfield sites will have planning permission by 2020.
  • Our research revealed a colossal 275,000 houses are now planned for our Green Belt, providing the evidence we needed to launch a national campaign to get the Government to do more to protect it.
  • The 5p levy for plastic bags we campaigned for has led to an 80% drop in usage.
  • Our campaigning helped secure government funding of £2.2 billion to get brownfield sites prepared for development over the next five years.

But we couldn't have done any of this without our valued supporters, who help out in all kinds of different ways. If you want to take a stand for the English countryside, please consider supporting our work.

Here are some ideas for ways you can get involved.

Every year, we run three appeals focused on a single issue that has come to the forefront of our attention. Through these appeals, we raise money to get right to the heart of the matter and hold the Government to account to ensure your voices are heard. We pride ourselves on framing local issues within the national agenda. Our latest appeal calls on the government to make the right decision for our countryside and introduce a deposit return system for all bottles and cans!

Play the CPRE Raffle

Behind each branch is a dedicated team of volunteers helping CPRE achieve its aims. Why not take a leap of faith and be a part of it?

Fundraise for us

Have you ever wanted to give yourself a challenge, run a marathon or cycle England's famous coast-to-coast route. We've had people of all ages take up a challenge from an 70-year-old cycling over 400 miles from Cambridge to Cornwall to twenty University students climbing Britain's Three Peaks in just 24 hours. See what you can achieve!
