We have highlighted three particular aspects of HS2 that we are concerned about:
- Construction map: Birmingham Interchange station. Not only would this station be on the Green Belt but it would increase pressure for further development around it.
Birmingham Interchange station - Operational map: Danes Moor, Northamptonshire. A tranquil spot next to the site of the Battle of Edgcott Moor, a critical turning point in the War of the Roses, this would be one of the largest areas exposed to very high levels of noise from high-speed trains.
Danes Moor, Northamptonshire - Landscape map: Wendover Dean viaduct, Chilterns. One of the highest profile landscape impacts along the whole route, it will be a litmus test for the quality of detailed design.

The pioneering maps use open data from a range of sources, including detailed plans from HS2 Ltd, to show the impacts of HS2 and to place them within context. Although less information is available for phase 2 of HS2, as it has not been designed to the same level of detail, this is the first map that allows you to pan and zoom along the whole route.
Whether you are worried about construction lorries churning up country lanes, noise from trains spoiling your favourite walk or viaducts intruding on cherished views, we hope this map will not only give you an better idea of what is proposed, but also help local people who want to suggest improvements. CPRE and its network of branches will be using the maps in their on-going campaigning to improve the design of HS2 and reduce its negative impacts on the countryside.
